The Ritual

To preserve the quiet geometry of the flame.

The First Light

Every Moss & Oak candle begins with an act of patience. On the first burn, allow the wax to melt fully to the edge of the glass. This establishes a memory for the wax. A level path that ensures an even, clean burn for the fifty hours that follow. Set aside two to three hours for this first ritual. It is not a task. It is an introduction.

The Trim

Before each light, trim the wick to 5mm. This small act of maintenance secures a clean, steady draw and keeps the atmosphere clear. A trimmed wick burns without smoke, without flicker, holding a golden anchor of light that remains constant. We recommend a wick trimmer or sharp scissors, cut straight across.

The Burn

Each session should last no longer than four hours. This protects the integrity of the botanical wax and preserves the crystalline clarity of the fragrance notes. Keep the air still around the flame. Let the notes of resin and earth settle slowly into the room, undisturbed.

The Rest

When you extinguish the flame, do so gently with the cork lid. Between burns, rest the lid on the vessel to keep the fragrance sealed and the surface free of dust.

The Final Hour

When approximately 10mm of wax remains at the base, the candle has completed its cycle. Continuing to burn beyond this point risks overheating the glass. Once cooled, the smoked glass vessel can be cleaned with warm water and repurposed. A quiet container for small rituals of its own.

A room is defined by more than its walls. At Moss & Oak, we view scent as soft architecture. An invisible geometry of wood smoke and shadow that dictates the volume, depth, and soul of a home.
