What are Moss & Oak candles made of? Each candle is a 200g pour of our signature botanical wax — a creamy, plant-derived foundation chosen for its slow, steady burn and exceptional scent clarity. The wick is a flat-braided cotton construction that curves naturally into the heat, creating a self-trimming ritual that minimises smoke and holds a golden, constant flame. Every element is lead-free, zinc-free, and respectful of the air you breathe.
How long do they burn? Each candle is designed for approximately 65 hours of burn time — enough to linger through many quiet moments. To achieve the full duration, follow the care guidance on our Ritual page.
How should I care for my candle? Trim the wick to 5mm before each light. On the first burn, allow the wax to melt fully to the edges of the glass. Burn for no longer than four hours per session. Extinguish gently with a snuffer or wick dipper. Full guidance is available on The Ritual page.
What does each scent smell like? Each of our four editions explores a different atmosphere:
Thistledown — Edition 1.01 — The Observer. Wild Thistle, Fern, Birch Smoke. A study in liminal light. Breezy, green, and stilled.
Havenwood — Edition 1.02 — The Anchor. Sacred Woods, Palo Santo, Resin. A structural retreat. Warm, grounded, and close.
Emberfell — Edition 1.03 — The Glow. Saffron, Hinoki, Cedarwood. The geometry of a fading fire. Radiant, golden, and familiar.
Hearthveil — Edition 1.04 — The Contrast. Ash, Green Vines, Oud. An observation of renewal. Complex, smoky, and alive.
Are your candles vegan and cruelty-free? Yes. We use no animal-derived ingredients and do not test on animals. Our botanical wax is entirely plant-based.
Are they safe to burn around pets? Our candles are made with botanical wax and cotton wicks with no lead or zinc. However, we recommend burning in a well-ventilated space and keeping the flame out of reach of curious animals. If your pet has respiratory sensitivities, consult your veterinarian.
Do you offer gift wrapping? Not at this time. Each candle ships in protective packaging designed to reflect the care of the product inside. We are exploring gift options for future editions.
How do I track my order? Once your order ships, you will receive an email with tracking information. You can also check your order status by logging into your account.
I received a damaged candle. What should I do? We hand-pack every order, but transit can be unpredictable. If your candle arrives damaged, please contact us at concierge@mossoakstudio.com with a photograph within 7 days of delivery. We will arrange a replacement.
